Modric unsure of spurs stay

Speculation on the midfielder has spiked since the close of the English Premier League season with champions Manchester United looking a likely destination.

However, manager Harry Redknapp has consistently denied the club would ever consider selling their Croatian star and he described the 25-year-old as "irreplaceable".
Luka Modric
Modric, who has been tipped as the ideal replacement for United's recently retired midfielder Paul Scholes, told reporters he expects to be at Spurs when the squad return next month ahead of their pre-season tour of South Africa.
However, in quotes referenced by the Daily Star, Modric stopped short of declaring that he would indeed be wearing Tottenham colours when the transfer window shuts on August 31.
"I'm a Tottenham player and will be in London on July 7 to begin preparing for the season," he was quoted as saying.
"But I want to say that transfers could occur later. In England it is often the case they happen on the last day of the transfer period, August 31.
"So it is pointless to worry about anything now. "If my situation changes after the start of preparation it would not be a problem."
Modric signed a new deal with Spurs only last year and it runs out in 2016.
